WAYNESVILLE ROTARY FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS' MEETING!

TThe Board of Directors of the Waynesville Rotary Foundation, Inc. met on July 16, 2010 at the Laurel Ridge Country Club.  Members present:  Neal Ensley, Billy Case, Ed LaFountaine, Max Kimel and Larry Leatherwood

President Neal called the meeting to order and determined that a quorum was present.  All members present stated a ‘no conflict of interest’ for business being conducted at this meeting.

The minutes from the May 21 Rotary Foundation Board meeting were presented with Kimel moving approval, second by Leatherwood and passed unanimously. The June 18 Rotary Foundation Board meeting minutes were presented, motion by LaFountaine and second by Ensley and passed unanimously.  The minutes for the Foundation Board’s annual meeting with the entire club on May 21 were presented and approved.  Motion by Kimel and second by Leatherwood, approved unanimously.
No treasurer ‘s report due to absence of Bill Bird.

President Neal reminded the members of the scheduled interviews for scholarships set for Monday, July 19 at Haywood Community College at 9:30 AM.  Discussion followed regarding how many scholarships to award.  Motion by Leatherwood and second by LaFountaine to fund three $1500.00 scholarships, funded at $750.00 per semester for 2010-2011.  Motion passed unanimously.  Five interviews are scheduled for Monday.

Some discussion followed regarding a student, Gail Morris, whom we have awarded a scholarship in the past but who has not completed all the requirements due to personal/physical problems.  There is $750.00 of Rotary Club scholarship money available for her to use this Fall.  Neal talked with her and she wishes to continue.  Kimel moved and Case seconded to award her the $750.00 currently being held at HCC for the Fall semester.  Motion passed unanimously.

Case moved to adjourn and LaFountaine seconded.  Meeting adjourned at 12:35
